If your mornings are anything like mine, they are usually rushed and sometimes a tad chaotic. But that’s no excuse to skip breakfast!
So, I like to make frozen breakfast smoothie packs that I just plop into the blender and in seconds I have a decently balanced meal ready to go!

This recipe is fairly generic and can be modified to fit what you have around the house or what you like to eat.

What you’ll need
  • Quart-size ziplock bags
  • Frozen or fresh fruit
  • Spinach or another dark leafy green
  • Vanilla protein powder (I like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey protein)

First you take a large fist full of fresh greens and put them in a baggy.

Next, toss in about ½ cup frozen fruit, followed by a sliced banana.

Then a scoop of protein powder.

Seal up the bag and squeeze any excess air out before storing in the freezer.
When you are ready to enjoy:
Pull out a smoothie pack toss it in the blender with 1 cup of liquid. I like to use orange juice but if you want a creamier smoothie, almond milk works too!

These awesome smoothie packs don’t just save time, they also save food that may be on its last leg. If your bananas are starting to brown, or your spinach is getting a little wilted, make a smoothie pack! And freezing your protein powder actually extends its shelf life!
